Classical vocal technique protects the voice...
no strain, no thinning in the upper registers, and an increase in endurance.

The Study
Breath and Support The power behind the voice. Reduces vocal fatigue, protects vocal chords from nodes, and increases dynamic control.
Removal of Strain on the Voice This technique strengthens all the muscles required to create sound and provides consistent support to freely move into the upper registers without thinning or straining.
Correct Physical Positioning To acheive the best projection and tone.
Control of Placement Ensures vocal tone is placed properly...not in the nose or too far back in the throat...unless you're choosing to do so as a styling effect.
Expansion of Range Stretching the vocal range correctly allows for a wider range of singable notes and more musical options.
Music Theory Reading notes, rhythms, dynamic markings, key signatures
A Lost Art

There was an era in this country when most of our greatest vocalists were classically trained, but over time this vocal technique has almost become a lost art. There are very few people left here that have the knowledge.

The technique is very specific and originates in Italy. I was very fortunate to have been trained by two teachers who studied this technique in Italy...Dr. Joseph Gaudio and Mark Forest (Yes, Hercules in old movies was also a highly accomplished opera singer. The Hercules movies of the 1960s were actually made in Italy.)

This classical technique provides the strongest foundation for a powerful, controlled voice that can be applied to any musical genre. It's also very useful for actors because of the level of control, volume, and sustaining power the technique provides.

Conservatories and universities are no longer teaching this technique and it's very obvious to the trained ear. Without classical training a singer will never be able to reach their true potential. That's why this technique is so important to learn...for yourself and to pass the knowledge on to others.
